Weekend Getaway: Ojai, California

Ojai is one of my favorite spots for a quiet weekend getaway. A quick thirty minute drive from Santa Barbara makes it an easy drive from many California coastal towns. Ojai is a quirky, hippie town that has mastered the art of relaxation, healthy living and appreciation of nature. Unplug from technology, lounge by the pool, and treat yourself to a spa day or a treasure found at a local boutique on Ojai Avenue.

I was reminded of my love of this charming town on my visit last weekend. Here are a few of my favorite spots:

1. Stay at Ojai Valley Inn

Ojai Valley Inn is right outside the main area of town. It is known for the beautiful spa, oak trees and serene pools. Be sure to eat on the patio at The Oak. Order a pixie orange margarita and enjoy the live music and beautiful views of Ojai.

2. Take a workshop at the Artist Cottage

The Ojai Valley Inn has the most charming artist cottage. They have workshops and open studio hours where you can tap into your creative spirit! My favorite classes they offer are candle making, pottery painting, intro to macrame, and apothecary blending. The apothecary class is so special. You smell an array of essential oils and blend them to make a signature scent!

3. Shop at the Bungalow by Fig Ojai

The Bungalow captures the essence and energy of Ojai. The store is tucked away from the hustle and bustle but only a few steps from the main street. The remodeled house is covered with ivy and greenery. The store is filled with handpicked, special and unique pieces. Handmade ceramics, jewelry, and wall hangings are a few of the many treasures I fell in love with. (You might spot some Jenna Bee goods in there as well!)

4. Grab coffee at Beacon's

Hippest coffee spot in town. My personal favorite is the golden milk latte but add espresso. They have delicious yogurt and granola as well.

5. Cattywampus Crafts

After you grab some coffee, walk next store! Cattywampus craft store is attached to the cafe. It is a nerdy crafters dream spot (like me). Stock up on materials and get inspired for your next project!

6. Find unique pieces at Summer Camp

Summer Camp welcomes you into town as it is one of the first stops to make on Ojai Ave. It is an old gas station creatively transformed into a boutique. I was overwhelmed by the beautiful aesthetics of the store, I could have bought everything!
